 Think you need to hire some overpriced guru to get your car dialed in? Think again! The amazing TurboXS Tuner is everything you need to do engine tuning on any car, at an affordable price. It's every tool the experienced engine tuners use to tune their cars, in one complete package. The Tuner incorporates a wideband oxygen sensor, a knock sensor, and inputs for up to four other signals. It outputs a digital air/fuel ratio, an LED knock indicator, audible knock data to headphones, and a full data stream that can output to your laptop, PDA, or TurboXS UTEC for data logging purposes. (Nintendo Gameboy interface coming soon, and sold separately.)
The box itself is machined from billet aluminum for good looks and durability. It's about 6 1/4" wide, 1 1/4" high, and 4 1/2" deep -- smaller than a standard DIN mount.
The front of the Tuner control unit includes the standard 1/8" headphone jack, a volume knob for the headphone output, a three-color knock LED, three digit air/fuel LED readout, and the RS-232 (serial port) plug.
The Tuner has its own software built right in, so it can be programmed and used by any device that has a terminal program and a serial port. That includes most any laptop (HyperTerminal is standard in all Windows installations) or Palm device.
If you have a TurboXS UTEC, the Tuner can talk to it! Two-way communication between the devices means you can use the UTEC inputs (like RPM and MAP) and log them along with your air/fuel and knock sensor inputs.
Sometime in mid-2004, we'll have the Gameboy adapter available (for purchase separately), so you will be able to use a current-generation Gameboy Advance to log data and view outputs.
The Tuner package includes the Tuner control unit, serial interface cable, Bosch oxygen sensor, Bosch knock sensor, sensor wiring harnesses, power and ground leads, and a weld-on bung for the oxygen sensor.
Inputs:- Bosch LSU4 Wide band O2 sensor: Measures air fuel ratio (can make use of less expensive VW wide-band 02 sensors but we prefer the LSU4 sensor for quicker response time).
- Bosch Knock sensor: Data log detonation events
- 2 x 5v digital: such as RPM pickup, Injector duty cycle, MAF Frequency, etc.
- 2 x analog inputs rated for up to 16V: such as MAF, MAP, TPS, EGT, etc.
Outputs:- Air Fuel Ratio Display: Auto-Dimming 3 digit LED display
- Visual Detonation Indicators: User definable, 3 LEDs to indicate severity of detonation
- Audible Knock Sensor Jack: Listen for knock though a set of headphones.
- RS32 Serial Cable: Extensive data logging abilities output to a PC or PDA.
- 5v Signal: User definable, outputs 02 sensor signal to aftermarket ECU or dynamometer.
